Unsere Geschichte

This page tells you why Wochenanalyse exists, how our journalism works, and what you can expect from us. You can use it to understand our mission, meet the team, learn about our funding, and find ways to get involved.

Why was Wochenanalyse founded?

Wochenanalyse was founded in 2024 to fill a gap in Swedish news: clear, practical reporting for readers who want context without noise. Wochenanalys Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar, created the site after seeing that much English-language coverage of Sweden was either too superficial or hidden behind paywalls.

Traditional news outlets often rush headlines without explanation. We wanted a publication that helps you grasp not just what happened, but why it matters – whether you live in Sweden, follow Swedish affairs from abroad, or work in business, policy or academia. Our tagline, “Nachrichten, Analysen und Hintergründe für Deutschland,” reflects our original German-speaking audience, but we serve readers in Sweden and internationally in English as well.

What is our editorial philosophy under Peter Weber?

Chefredaktör Peter Weber sets the editorial standards: trustworthy Swedish journalism that explains complex issues without spin or oversimplification. Every article is written by a named journalist, reviewed by an editor, and fact-checked before publication.

We do not chase clicks. Our reporters dig into policy, economics, culture and society with the aim of giving you a working understanding of Sweden. Peter Weber insists on clear sourcing, transparent corrections, and a firm separation between editorial content and commercial interests. AI tools may assist research or drafting, but human editorial judgement always decides what gets published. No fabricated quotes, sources or bylines are ever allowed.

How is the newsroom structured?

The newsroom is led by Redaktionschef Miriam Schwartz, who oversees daily assignments, headline review and commissioning. A dedicated desk for each major beat ensures depth.

Our team includes Politikredaktör Markus Kaiser covering the Riksdag, government and municipal politics; Wirtschaftreporter Claudia Winkler on economy, markets and household finance; Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Jan Martin on culture, lifestyle and society; and Ansvarig för faktagranskning Lea Schreiber handling fact-checking, source verification and corrections. You can meet the full team on /our-team/.

What can readers expect from our journalism?

Every article carries a named byline, clear sourcing and a visible link to our editorial policies. If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently under our corrections policy.

We also publish detailed sources & standards so you can see where our information comes from. Our editorial policy covers independence, conflict of interest and the use of AI. Sponsored or commercial content is always labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.

How this works in practice

Suppose a new Swedish housing policy is announced. Our Politikredaktör Markus Kaiser first reads the government bill, interviews MPs and economists, then drafts a 800-word analysis. Claudia Winkler adds context on mortgage rates and household debt. Lea Schreiber verifies every statistic against the official sources. The article is reviewed by Miriam Schwartz, edited for clarity and accuracy, and published with a byline. If a correction is needed later, we update the piece and note the change at the top – no silent fixes. That same article may be offered for licensing to other outlets, but the editorial conclusions remain solely our own.

Who owns and funds Wochenanalyse?

Wochenanalyse is owned and operated by Wochenanalys Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). The registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. Funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing – all clearly marked as such.

Full details of our ownership and funding model are available on /ownership-funding/. We believe transparency builds trust. No outside investor or advertiser controls our editorial line.
